1. Who We Are

MealRoots ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered meal planning application available on iOS and Android. Our contact email is hello@mealroots.app and our website is https://mealroots.app.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the MealRoots app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use MealRoots.

3. The Service

MealRoots provides AI-generated meal plans tailored to your cultural background, health goals, and dietary preferences. The service includes:

• Daily and weekly AI-generated meal plans
• Nutrition tracking and analytics
• Automated shopping lists
• Meal reminders via push notifications
• Premium features available via subscription

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice.

4. Account Registration

You must create an account to use MealRoots. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information during registration
• Keep your password secure and not share it with others
• Notify us immediately at hello@mealroots.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

5. AI-Generated Meal Plans

MealRoots uses the Anthropic Claude AI to generate personalised meal suggestions. Please note:

• AI-generated meal plans are for informational and general wellness purposes only — they are not medical or nutritional advice
• Always consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes, especially if you have a medical condition
• Calorie and macronutrient estimates are approximate and may vary based on ingredients, preparation methods, and portion sizes
• We are not responsible for any adverse health outcomes resulting from following meal suggestions

6. Premium Subscriptions

MealRoots offers a Premium subscription with additional features. The following terms apply:

• Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at purchase
• A free trial period may be offered to new subscribers — you will not be charged until the trial ends
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's subscription settings (iOS: App Store → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Subscriptions)
• We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by law
• Subscription payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective terms

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use MealRoots for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
• Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the service
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the servers or infrastructure behind MealRoots
• Share your account credentials with others
• Upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content (e.g. via profile photos or support messages)

8. Intellectual Property

The MealRoots app, its design, logo, and content are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without our prior written permission.

Meal plans generated for you are for your personal use only. You may share them informally (e.g. with family or friends) but may not commercialise or republish them.

9. Privacy

Your use of MealRoots is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using MealRoots, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

MealRoots is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of MealRoots, including but not limited to health outcomes, data loss, or interruption of service.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of MealRoots after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of MealRoots will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of our operating jurisdiction.
